FISHING TOURNAMENTS
May 19: Student Angler Federation Virginia High School Fishing State Championship on Smith Mountain Lake in Moneta, launching out of Gills Creek Marina. A two-person team event for students in grades 9?12. Registration for anglers and their ?coach,? who will provide the boat they compete in, is online at HighSchoolFishing.org.
May 24: Night catfishing. Motts Run Reservoir. 8:30 p.m.-1 a.m. Discount advance purchase prices. For details, fees and private boat limitations, call 786-8989. Night fishing also on June 21, July 19, Aug. 16 and Sept. 20.
