Fire crews have contained a large fire that ripped through a Mineola oil company.
Around 8 p.m. Sunday, witnesses in Mineola reported hearing an explosion, followed by law enforcement sirens, then a second explosion.
Mineola Fire Department crews responded to Pearce Petroleum Products, formerly Williams Oil, shortly after 8 o'clock. The office on South Johnson Street was damaged in the fire, according to Mineola Police. At one point, fire fighters were spraying large tanks outside the business to prevent the spread of the fire.
Pearce Petroleum sells ethanol-free petroleum products and fuel.
The cause of the fire is unclear at this point. It is also unknown whether the building was occupied at the time of the fire.
Mineola Police has closed many of the streets in that vicinity to motorists.
KLTV has a news crew at the scene and will have more updates as the situation develops.
